Many of us, even as followers of Christ, are yearning for a return to what life was before COVID-19. I have to say, I just don’t get this.
The Spirit of the living God is not asleep, and He is certainly not distracted by the virus that has derailed our regular schedules. He is aware, active and focused on the needs of each of us. However, at least in our view, His greatest attention is still on reaching the one sheep that is lost.
What do you do when you have a bunch of boys who are full of testosterone and ego while you are in the middle of a stay-at-home order? Well, you better keep them busy and it is best if you can somehow help them to exhaust all the pent-up energy that will otherwise be employed for nefarious purposes.
Since the first week of the stay-at-home order, we have been coming together on Sundays for a time of worship as a community here at Youth-Reach Houston. If the weather is nice, we assemble at the pavilion by the pond, if it is raining, we come together at a staff home on campus.
This is all we have heard about for weeks. All other news has been pushed aside as we all try to separate the hype from the facts. One thing is for sure: The fear that has accompanied this pandemic is as harmful as the actual virus.

I realize that every person who leads or serves a non-profit, charity or ministry sees their work as vital. Those who risk life and limb to brave the Southern Ocean to protect whales from illegal poaching see their work as critical. The people who live their lives investing countless hours and endless energy into caring for stray dogs and cats feel that their labors are essential.
