What do you do when you have a bunch of boys who are full of testosterone and ego while you are in the middle of a stay-at-home order? Well, you better keep them busy and it is best if you can somehow help them to exhaust all the pent-up energy that will otherwise be employed for nefarious purposes. They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and because of the necessity we have faced, our Houston staff devised a plan to exploit the competitive nature that exists within every boy.

They invented the first ever Youth-Reach Houston Olympics.

The events included both scholastic and physical challenges, and there was a mix of individual and team competitions. Here is a list of the events: Math, Literature, Art, Knockout (basketball skills game), Dodgeball, Sports Trivia, Bible Jeopardy, Sand Volleyball, Water Polo, Swim Race, History, Movie Trivia, Scene It (a board game), Risk (a board game), Music, 2-on-2 Basketball, Tug of War, Donuts on a String, and The Amazing Race.

Points were accrued and at the end of the week-long Olympic competition, Trevor was the overall winner, while others received awards for sportsmanship and teamwork. The winners were awarded the points that are coveted and can be used to purchase items in the Youth-Reach General Store.

Since this was the first time we have ever done something like this, we were not sure how the boys would embrace the events, but it must be said that they JUMPED IN WITH ENERGY. Now we see that this needs to be an annual event!
