Many of our boys come from dysfunctional or disintegrated homes and struggle to even conceive of what a healthy and intact family might look like. What we do here at Youth-Reach is not just to teach strong character and biblical principles, but to live out the Kingdom of God every day as a sincere example to them of what it looks like to live as believers in Jesus. I have always believed that two of the best words in the English language are Jesus and fun. Our Friday night Family Nights are just that—a time to enjoy fellowship and fun without compromise.
There is often a theme that the amazing ladies of Youth-Reach come up with. It may be board games, Jarod’s insane water kickball, or water activities at the pond, but it also revolves around good food at tables mixed with boys, staff members and the family units that reside here on campus. Last month it was wonderfully juicy cheeseburgers and now we are planning pulled pork for the next time we gather. The boys get to mix with all of us in a light, playful and fun evening that is relaxed and aimed at connections and friendships.
This is just one of those extras thrown into life at Youth-Reach that helps this ministry offer a place of safety and healing to the kids entrusted to us.
