Annual Camping Trip Extravaganza
For many of the boys we care for, going on a camping trip has never been a part of their life story. For the boys who come to us, though, this is an annual pilgrimage filled with new experiences that often push them out of their comfort zones. This is not “glamping” in an RV, but tent camping in Garner State Park in the Texas Hill Country near the Frio River.

If you’ve never been to that portion of The Lone Star State, you’ve been missing out. The climate and terrain might remind one of the old western movies with the cactus, limestone cliffs, deep canyons and cold rivers and creeks. It is in this environment, far different from Houston, that Jarod and Eva Dyess, along with our newest team member David Salazar, took the boys camping, lazy tubing, and cooking meals over a campfire. They also had the opportunity to go fishing and wakeboarding behind a dedicated ski boat. To say they enjoyed the week is a gross understatement.
