Ten years is long enough to see seasons change.
It is long enough to watch boys become men, uncertainty turn into conviction and fragile beginnings grow into something steady and enduring. As I reflect on the past decade of leadership with Youth-Reach, what rises most clearly is not a list of accomplishments or milestones, but a deep sense of gratitude—for people, for calling and for the privilege of serving together.
Youth-Reach has never been about a single leader or personality. It has always been about people willing to show up—consistently, sacrificially and faithfully—for young men and families who needed someone to stand in the gap. Over the years, I have had the honor of serving alongside an extraordinary group of staff members. These men and women have poured themselves out daily—often unseen and uncelebrated—bringing stability, structure, truth and compassion into complex and sacred spaces. Their work has mattered more than they will ever fully know.
I am equally grateful for the families we have served and walked alongside. Many entrusted us with what mattered most to them—their sons, their stories, their hope for a different future. That trust is never taken lightly. Every story, every struggle, every breakthrough has shaped me as a leader and as a man. Serving these families has been a humbling reminder that leadership is not about control or outcomes, but about presence, patience and faithfulness over time.
One of the greatest honors of my life has been answering this calling alongside Curt Williams. To walk with Curt over these 10 years has meant learning what it looks like to hold vision with conviction, to persevere when the road is unclear, and to stay anchored to mission when growth brings complexity. He says often, “All I wanted to do was help boys. I never wanted to worry about wells breaking and power bills.” His faith, courage and willingness to carry responsibility long before the fruit was visible laid the foundation upon which so much has been built. I am deeply thankful for his leadership, trust and friendship.
As I look ahead, I do so with both humility and hope. The work of Youth-Reach continues because the need continues—and because there are still people willing to answer the call. My gratitude for the past fuels my commitment to the future. What has been built over these 10 years is not finished; it is being stewarded, strengthened and entrusted forward.
To every staff member, family, supporter and partner who has walked this journey with us—thank you. It has been an honor to serve, to learn and to lead among you.
And above all, I am grateful—to God—for the calling, for the endurance to remain and for the privilege of saying yes, again and again, over 10 meaningful years.
“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”
