Life is full of twists and turns, and many seasons tend to lead us to vital crossroads. The boys who enter our home face crossroads like this from the start, and each day brings a choice: persevere and complete their time with us or quit when things get hard.
Both completing and quitting have the potential to become a trend, critically altering the path of one’s life along the way. When seasons get tough, many people (young and old) call it quits. That might start with school or a job, but if the trend continues, it could lead to giving up on even more important commitments, like marriage or parenting. Many of the boys who come through Youth-Reach are a product of one or both parents calling it quits when life got hard, and the children are left to pay the price.
Thankfully, the same pattern is often true for those who choose to preserve and push forward to complete the things they set out to do. When we see a boy here push through a challenge despite the temptation to quit, that momentum increases their confidence in themselves to complete the next mission. For those who keep that momentum going, the sky’s the limit, and their future career, future wife and future children will benefit from their commitment.
The majority of the boys who come to Youth-Reach have “quit” written all over them. Many of them have even been told they’re a failure and will never amount to anything. One of our goals at Youth-Reach is to encourage these boys to believe in themselves and in who God has planned for them to be. Testing seasons, and the crossroads they present, will never go away, so we aim to prepare and equip them to fight and find victory through each of them. The world will always be a better place when strong, godly, committed men are leading well, and each of our boys has what it takes to turn the tide.
