With the help of some very special people and the holiday support that we received, we were able to provide a Christmas experience for our boys that will be talked about and remembered for decades.
A week before Christmas, an anonymous donor provided the opportunity to have a private banquet room reserved for them at a Pappasito’s on the west side of Houston, where the boys and our Operations staff feasted on a tremendous Tex-Mex meal with all the trimmings. This was followed by a program hosted by our friend and internationally recognized strongman Dennis Rogers along with WWE superstar Mark Henry and several others who made this evening so amazing. The boys watched as strong men bent horseshoes, and a world-record holder in jump-roping stunned us all with his tricks and abilities.
This portion of the evening ended with Mark Henry reading the Christmas story to the boys… truly a sacred moment.
Then, as if this was not enough, each boy was presented with an envelope with $250 in cash and we immediately took them to Memorial City Mall for a shopping spree that left them dumbfounded by the generosity. They clearly had an amazing time shopping in the crowded mall.
We even had boys who had never been inside a mall like this one.
Christmas Day was relaxing and a time for celebrating the wondrous gift of the Christ-child. The day after, Curt and Judah Williams took the boys out for a sushi lunch, which many of the boys had never experienced. Needless to say, they are all fans of sushi now.
Your provision to Youth-Reach is not soaked up by high administrative costs or a ridiculous fundraising budget, but goes to provide an experience for troubled boys that not only changes the trajectory of their lives, but alters their eternities. Watching the faces of these boys, we are deeply grateful for your sacrificial giving to this work.
