Eight Out of Ten

This past February marked the end of the eighth year of our ten-year succession plan. We have been amazed at how swiftly these eight years have gone by, and yet, we are on track. The plan the Lord led us to implement has been both smooth and fruitful.

There’s an old saying: “When you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

It has been heavy on the hearts of our leadership team and board members for the last decade that we needed to plan for the next season of leadership. Many successful ministries have failed when it came time for the founder to pass the torch. Our board became intentional and sought to steward all the Lord has provided by prayerfully pursuing each step.

First, we began a wonderful relationship with our “coach,” Dr. Dave Robinson, whose wisdom, discernment and guidance have been invaluable. He started by helping us see who we already had on our team, and where each individual fit. He has liberally given his time and experience to provide direction and counsel, and we would not have wanted to take this journey without him.

Over the course of this journey it became clear to Curt, our board and even our staff families in Houston and Alabama that the Lord had raised up David Williams for just a time and position as this; to transition into Curt’s role as Executive Director of Youth-Reach. As soon as this determination was made and all board members unanimously voted for this plan, our course took on clarity and focus. Curt and David have spent an enormous amount of time together. They have traveled together around the planet to Cambodia and made numerous trips to help with the Youth-Reach work in Costa Rica. David has brought fresh ideas and a fresh perspective to Youth-Reach, and he has been seeking to connect with Houston-area pastors, business leaders and our supporters.

This year, we are setting up several informal home receptions so you can have a chance to meet David. We also hope that his wife Summer can attend most of these evenings so you can meet her, too. As soon as these dates, times and locations are set we will let you know.

Many have asked about Curt’s plans after he fully turns over the reins to David in February 2027. Curt will always be an ambassador of Youth-Reach, available if needed, and active in promoting new potential locations. He has written a second book that will soon be off to the editors as the first step towards publication.

Throughout this process, your prayers and encouragement have been priceless. We hope you will take the time to join us at an upcoming reception to meet with Curt and connect with David. You will witness the culmination of a plan that was long ago devised by the Father and is now taking shape. Thank you for your faithful support of Youth-Reach.
