Youth-Reach residents engaged on a hands-on learning activity with a recent trip to Space Center Houston.
Many experts agree that the traditional American education model is much better suited to girls than it is for boys. When you tell a young boy to sit down, be quiet and be still you have asked him to do everything that he is not designed to do. Recognizing this, here at Youth-Reach we endeavor to drag education out of the classroom and expose our boys to learning that is experiential, tactile and visual.
The Value of Hands-on Learning
On a recent trip to Space Center Houston, it was evident that most of our boys were having so much fun that they were unaware that they were actually learning. They were able to witness, explore and discover points of science that would have eluded them in the classroom. This trip is just one of many opportunities afforded to our boys that help them to grasp the value of knowledge and the attractions and value of education.
