We’re excited to share that the new Dr. Charles E. Cowles, Jr. Education Center is on schedule for our August 15th completion date! The center features:

  • A segmented classroom with 19 computer workstations
  • Large lecture-style classroom
  • Men’s and women’s restrooms
  • A small kitchen

A much-needed facility, this building is named after our dear friend and board member who died tragically the day after this past Christmas. He was a life-long learner who was passionate about the value of education. In fact, after completing medical school and becoming a practicing physician, he returned to college to earn his MBA.

Currently, our team is working hard to complete the final preparations needed so the boys we serve can begin benefiting from this new resource. As of today, the exterior siding and trim is painted, HVAC is operating and checked out, and bathrooms and kitchen are almost complete. The crew is removing the furnishings from the sidewalks and porch landings, and will be hooking up the sewage line. Items yet to be finished include: finishing the floors, installing the gutters, and finishing the Internet and security systems setup.

We are tremendously grateful for this new resource that will allow us to provided a dedicated space for the boys we serve to learn. This educational environment is designed in a way that distractions can be easily minimized. We’ll have space for guest speakers to be brought in to enhance the boys’ opportunities to gain specialized knowledge.

Thank you to everyone who has generously given to help make this dream a reality for Youth-Reach Houston! We ask for prayer that completion of this facility would continue to go according to schedule and that this building would be a continual source of blessing for our boys for generations to come.
